There are fundamentally three different labor roles in capitalist society. Woah woah. Relax. Don’t click away. I promise this is about creative…

Anyway. The three jobs you can have today are (basically):

  1. people who create things
  2. people who help create things
  3. people who manage

You could argue there’s, maybe, a fourth lane for people who create and/or fund the above roles (like founders and VCs), but given recent shifts in funding dynamics, we’ll leave that one aside for now.

As a creative, you create. You look at an empty space with a creative brief in your hand, wave your magic wand and voila. The empty space that was once there now has a thing in it.

Did you do that by yourself? Nope. There were lots of people who helped, but the original idea you came up with, based on the instructions you were given (the brief), came straight from your brain. Yay.
