ABOUT ME: The Afterlife, Two Moms, a Peacock Farm, and 30+ Underground Raves

First, I was born a millionaire. That didn’t last...

My dad was involved in an accident that caused him to have a near death experience.

I was the sole heir to the multi-million dollar fortune that resulted from the settlement. (Adjusted for inflation).

That disappeared.

See, my dad’s story about what happens to you when you die made him marginally famous among people who are into the afterlife and near death experiences.

To me, he was just the guy that left my mom and I after he was on TV.

Also, he squandered the money.

Then, my mom married a woman named Jenefer, back before you could do so legally.

The three of us lived on a farm with peacocks and Jenefer’s miniature schnauzer, Heidi.

I went to an arts high school and studied writing.

From 1999–2001, I threw over 30 underground raves.

Then, I moved to London and studied journalism.

When I returned to the states, I wrote my first collection of original poetry called “Plus” and helped start a poetry journal called, “Arcade.”

In 2005, I moved to New York City to study poetry and earn my MFA.

I worked as the Editor-In-Chief of the literature journal at school and as an adjunct professor, teaching freshman English composition.

After graduation, I took a job working in TV where I wrote promos and other advertising copy for celebrities.

I was nominated for an Emmy for a poem I wrote.

Then, I changed industries to advertising and worked as a freelance writer for lots of different ad agencies and as a creative director for the Wall Street Journal.

Now, I work at a digital advertising company called Digitas, writing copy and strategy for some of the world’s biggest brands.

I also write a zine called “VOL” where I publish original poetry, essays, and illustrations.

NYC. Emmy-nominated writer. Poet. Former rave promoter. A tiger once roared at me, angrily, while I wore a tuxedo. This blog is a response to that moment.
