3 Reasons I Don’t Want To Talk To You About My Tattoos

I get that people are curious.

I get that if someone asks questions about you and who you are, it’s because they might think you’re interesting.

But consider for a moment what it’s like to be questioned about being different by people who are ostensibly not.

Here are three reasons why I don’t light up with glee when some one asks me about my tattoos.

Revealed: I don’t get tattoos to attract attention

Believe it or not, I couldn’t care less if anyone notices my tattoos.

I don’t get them to impress strangers.

I didn’t get them to impress anyone—especially people who, for some reason, need confirmation on whether or not repeatedly sticking a needle in your skin feels good.

Answering a stranger’s questions about your body is very weird

People pointing at your body and asking questions is awkward (and rude?) under any circumstances.

Why do you think it’s okay to do it in this bar?

You don’t actually care, anyway
